    Hello

I am having difficulties installing this card on an asus z87 plus micro atx MB.

I made sure both 6 and 8 pin pci cables were connected to the card, however i get a black screen on boot. The on board gpu boots fine.

In the bios i always switch the graphics from auto settings to PCI however I notice than when i re-start the pc, this option switches back to auto.

Thinking of a fautly pci slot, i tried a radeon hd6450 and boots fine straight away so the issue lies with the card.

Not sure what to try, i have re-set the CMOS and removed the battery but nothing has changed.

can anyone shed some light on what might be the problem?

I have updated the MB to the latest bios

    thanks

Testing the card in a different pc if possible seems to be the best course of action.

It still may also be a problem with the psu even with the hd6450 working.
Double check the 8pin and 6pin connections from the psu to see if and physical damage and try other ones if the psu has them.
I presume its a decent model and up to the job?

Thanks for that. Unfortunately i dont have access to another pc which would allow to run this type of card. PSU is a new corsair 650w modular unit, should be plenty of power for this card. But thanks for the hint I ll double check the connection on the PSU side

    just to update

the 8 pin cable from the psu side wasn't clipped in properly, feel like an idiot for not checking it first but with so many cables around it, it looked ok

i plugged it in properly and now works perfect

    cheers for the responses
