So how did you feel about this years election coverage.

Which media outlets did the best job?

What would you like to see next election?

The achingly slow count process doesn't help media.

Instead of a tight 2-3hr show like on UK networks, RTE have to commit to many hours spread over a weekend spending long minutes discussing nothing.

I think twitter was the winner personally.

First past the post works so well when you have a party like UKIP!

    I always enjoy the count.

the indo made the most effort with the tech boasting about an app they built to allow their reporters to upload the results directly to web/charts quickest maybe for the first count but not for any others rte's next then irish examiner, thejournal didn't do any particular results pages

twitter is the winner defo, but twitter is many different people news orgs, others have noted photos of counts was best way to see

winner is todayfm/gavreilly allowing us to see his spreadsheets so we can watch the transfers as he entered them

various councils had counts too but it was a mixed experience

the rte exit poll was useful with the delayed euro count and the ancillary questions it gave them something to talk about while waiting for counts

what i'd like to see is an electoral commission.

lacked local radio coverage for my area / nearfm had some good interviews but their focus doesn't really stretch very far

less recycled press releases in local newspapers and bit more scrutiney of candidates, we can blog and tweet ourselves but still need journos to poke around on our behalf

Rte did well I thought, kept on top of things for the 'formal' count
