Have to say im at a total lose as to why anyone would vote for Brian Hayes? is it only die-hard party politic FG votes? He has always come across to me as an arrogant little lap-dog type politician yelping along the coat tails of FG hierarchy. can anyone please explain why people have given him the chance of a seat at the euro parliament ? At least some of the opposition candidates stood up for their own principles etc....
    anybody?

totally agree I looked at his smarmy face looking out of the ballot and couldn't bring myself to vote for him! really don't understand why people gave any preference to him,

    Old habits die hard

Some families are still herded down to the polling station to give their votes to FF or FG.
    Sad but true.

    ...I'd never vote for SF

    etc.etc.

Not everyone shares the same views....a majority of the poeople on these boards don't represent a majority of society etc

people have choices and preferences in our Republic OP, they don't have to justify them to you or anyone else

as do people have the ability to question and potentially become educated about things that they may not see so clearly, hence the inquiry about how anyone could vote the way Ive questioned. Thank god some these people you talk of dont object so vociferously to being questioned or else there wouldnt be a boards.ie within which to have debates and conversations.

I am happy to engage in civilised debate about the different policies put forward by the varying parties and why some of the parties (AAA, PBP, SF) don't seem to have a clue or a coherent policy between them.

"arrogant little lap-dog politician", well that is a coherent reason not to vote for a particular policy:rolleyes:

what part of this is untrue? He has been arrogant on numerous occasions when I have seen him in the media and in session. He has also come across, to me, as a lap dog type yelping and panting on the collar of senior party politicians.

    exactly

I have no problem discussing issues either but the opening post is basically "I don't like Brian Hayes...why doesn't everyone else feel the same?"

My blood pressure always rises when he comes on TV, always did. There's something just very unlikeable about him, as somebody posted in another thread, kickable! And I'm not one prone to these type of feelings, it seems to be a widely held emotion too!

Having said that, I don't think he's the worst of the FG'rs.
