Imports are loaded, and skylines have extra loading, you will get quotes, but unless you have a big NCB and you're not a young lad, they'll be huge.

Are you over 25?, and is it your only car?

No I am 28, have a car for daily driving and have 7+ years NCB.

Have you tried AXA? I''m assuming your current insurers aren't having any of it?

So here is the thing ..... I rang Axa this morning and i got a guy and he said it was €380. Which is a great price ......... but then i thought "i wonder if they know it was an import" however given the fact it is a skyline i assumed they knew - but then when i rang back to ask they said to me that it has to be an irish car

So now im not sure where to go.......

My current insurance company is liberty and they will not even look at me ..... but i am not suprised

That's ridiculous. And what does your liberty policy say about driving other cars? Since you won't be driving it full time, you may not need to insure it directly.

It states that i am insured to drive other cars as long as they are not in my name/tax'd and nct'd - but i would prefer have my own cover and do it right.

The funny thing is and i said this to liberty was that i have been insured on Turbo Starlets/R32's/STI's/EVO's/180sx/Altezza and Type r civic and integra's with them up until two years ago.

I dont understand why they are like this .............. So i am not sure who to contact now

If I were you I'd write out an email with all the details and send it to every broker you can find online, see if anyone bites.

If I import a Mustang or Firebird from the USA it doesn't get loaded for classic insurance, are you sure these are classic policies they're talking about?

Really? And what insurance companies do you get quotes from.

I think they misunderstood about the Irish/imported bit. Try them again. It IS an Irish car now
