Selling DVDs on Ebay - best postage option??

I have listed some dvd's for sale on my ebay page.

I have only really bought on Ebay before, quite new to selling.

I have some bids already so I expect to be posting a few to mainland uk this week.

Just wondering what is the cheapest reliable service I can use to ensure their delivery?

I will only likely be sending 1-2 titles per package/envelope so there won't be much weight involved.

What is registered post for something like that likely to cost?

    Would appreciate any advice.

Not worth it, registered post would make the item too expensive for someone to buy, normally around 6euro for the UK for a small package

    An Post.

2 DVDs (assuming they are in proper cases) will weigh in at 180g including light weight padded envelope i.e. €4 or €7.90 depending on whether you send by regular or registered mail. Nobody is going to want to pay for registered mail on DVDs unless they are extremely rare. Surely you had to quote a postage cost in your listings?

The market for secondhand DVDs is very poor anyway as the charity shop sector has wiped out the trade as it did with secondhand books. :)

Ebay sets a fixed postage (or included in price as in the case for DVDs) per category; only exception are car parts and cars as I recall.

No, it doesn't. Postage rates are entirely down to the seller and the buyer coming to an agreement on them. How do you think your system could ever work with varying weights for starters? As well as courier vs post, airmail vs surface and so on.

They get to add it to the asking price.
In some categories, eBay sets limits on what sellers can charge for postage and packaging. See list of categories and maximum limits

We chose these categories because online buyers generally expect reasonable P&P charges - if not free P&P - when buying these types of items. The limits help ensure that our sellers remain competitive with other websites and prevents them from charging excessive postage costs - both of which help to keep buyers shopping on eBay.
It's been around for a few years now.

I'm guessing it's just a bit of confusion. There are some limits on P&P charge for some categories, mostly media/entertainment. These are by no means fixed though, just the max you can charge, and there's a postage calculator for weight/dimensions so ebay calculates the charge, but I think these are only if you list on .co.uk.

OP, have you not set the P&P charge already?

That's neither a fixed postage nor applied to everything but cars and car parts. Additionally, those are for shipping within the UK and apply to postage rather than courier.
