    Evening

I have been seconded to develop clinical skills training packs for support staff. I am a nurse and have experience of this in the UK.

The thing is I have been on to ABA and they have advised the following

" I appreciate your concerns expressed regarding coverage of teaching staff medication administration. This should be discussed with your employer as An Bord Altranais does not indemnify individuals for their practices, it is the professional regulator for nurses and midwives. I would suggest you review the organisation's policy for the training of staff to consider the particulars e.g what is required for staff responsibliites, supervision etc in this area. The Nursing Board recognises that patient and staff education are appropriate roles for nurses and midwives. However the appropriate supports and clinical governance structures must be in place for teaching and assessment of competency this is the responsibility of the organisation."

Previously the company insurance company indemnified the teaching packs but no longer do so. I have tried the clinical indemnity scheme but they do not indemnify either.

My question is where do I go from here. I have developed 14 packs (presentations, trainers notes, workbooks and competencies) but am afraid to start delivering as I am unsure where I stand from an indemnification and insurance point of view. The company I work for don't know either so I am stuck.

Am I being overly cautious?? Ainy pointers would be greatly recieved
