    Hi Folks

I know there is few people with these on boards (including me :P). Got a call from my dealer (Frank Keane) today informing me of a recall affecting the rear lights - looks like a bad earth issue: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=333214

I know quiet a few of you have UK imports or cars not bought from BMW dealers, so may not get notified. It's worth ringing a dealer or BMW Ireland, as far as I know with a recall you should still be able to get it sorted at no charge.

Yes it's an ongoing issue the last 2-3 months. It's exactly as you said, bad earth which causes the rear light to stop working. They put a beefier earth wire to a stoner earth point in the boot.

I done a retro fix on my cousins a week before they announced it in January!
There were similar issues on the E46 and E39.

Any chance they will do a recall for the timing chain on all models with the N47 diesel engine (and N57 let's not forget)?

Staying with the issue of BMW's well known quality failings, have they sorted the problem whereby a thief can copy the car's immobiliser code and easily steal the car with a blank key?

No and no by all accounts. I had the guy who called me go and check with the service manager if there was a option on the ODB/key clone issue - no dice, but they can sell you a tracker for €1,500 - chancers.
