Sky - no signal !

    Hi All,

I'm in Dublin ( Tallaght ) and my Sky Stations are acting up. Jumping in picture and sound. Hasn't really happened before.

I go to Sky's website and it says there is "Strong Winds near Dublin" --- I couldn't consider the wind out there anywhere near strong and a few months ago there was storm warnings and very high winds and the stations where fine.

But I would call the weather out there now pretty mild..

Does anyone know if this is the normal for Sky ?

It doesn't appear to be all stations either.

Is there any point in contacting Sky as they will just blame the so called "Strong Winds"

Have you tried the usual sky method of unplug box from mains and plug back in.

Sounds like your dish isn't 100% aligned though.

    I did try that..

I checked the signal strengths and they are about 60% sometimes moving down to 50% -- the Signal quality is even lower about 25-35% ...

I'm not sure what a normal signal strength looks like as I didn't have a need to check it when it was good.

That signal quality level is too low.
    Dish probably moved a little.

That depends upon your ability. Lets say lots of people can fix it themselves.

Sorry what I mean is is it something I can fix by moving the dish ?

I'm in a bungalow so I could reach it.

Yes. Give it ago. It needs alignment anyway so worst case you still need a satellite guy to do it.
Just try side to side movement.
Loosen the screws just enough to move the dish but still keeping it secure. Get the signal bars up on the tv and have someone watch them. Move it the tiniest amount and wait about 4 seconds until you are sure the system has reacted and see are bars better or worse.
