    hi

just short question, solicitor wrote to me on behalf of his client:
"... with the instructions that we are to institute immediate Civil proceeding against you and also file, as appropriate, reports with the Garda Siochana and Criminal Asset Bureau, Revenue and the Department of Social Welfare."

this is to alleged meeting I had with someone and we had some sort of a deal??

is this what solicitor do on clients request?
are they allow to mention that in the letter? isn't that a threat?

    thx

It looks more like a statement of intent to me. Cant see anything wrong with it at all.

In the other hand if they do not tell you everthing that can happen people would be complaining too. It is letting you know off the proceduce that will follow nothing more but can see why people see it as a thinly veiled threat

The "as appropriate" is the keyword there. What they're actually saying is that they will file reports with those bodies if that is necessary, not that they are going to file reports. They're just mentioning some big scary government departments to get your attention.

It's deliberately grey language to try and scare you into settling with their client. I would be interested to know what kind of crime requires you to be reported to AGS, CAB, Revenue and DSW.

If they believe you have done something very serious, then you should go talk to a solicitor yourself.
