Not sure if this is in the correct thread, so please move accordingly...

To cut a long story short, I've been visiting the doctor on several occasion for the last few weeks, and I keep getting charged, even though its the same issue, which hasn't been resolved... When I questioned this, I was told to either pay or the doctor wouldn't see me. I've spent over 400euro on seeing this doctor and I'm still sick.

I thought you didn't have to pay if its the same issue, so any feedback would be much appreciated. Is it the law or is it just a best practice that they shouldn't charge?

    Many thanks

I think it's just practice that many don't charge, or charge a reduced rate.
Make sure you keep your receipts and claim tax relief.

    Im really surprized by this

I have never been charged on returning visits to my GP but my GP will always ask to see me again next week or in 2 weeks for the same issue

Are you just going back to the doctor yourself or is he/she requesting you to come back?

I was sent for Blood Tests for an issue last week, and when I went in to him about them, he said everything came back as normal however I still have the same issue. When I said this to him, he said "oh Im to busy today, you'll have to book another consultation"... ie: More money but for the same issue.

So you haven't been charged yet?

What do you mean? Every visit, I've paid 55 euro to visit the doctor, and I've received receipts.

If you are unhappy with your GP then go and see another GP.

OP, a considerable proportion of every Doctor's patients suffer from chronic/ recurring illnesses. If the GP only charged for the first appointment, then you can see the problem. Each visit is "fee per item", you get charged only when you use the service, it would be proper to charge for each visit/test necessary to diagnose the problem, it would not be proper for a GP to order blood tests, X-rays, MRIs etc for every patient , every illness, every time and charge hundreds of euro for just the first visit.
