Is an FSA Gossamer 50/34 crankset compatible with an Ultegra 6700 BB? It seems to fit and the bike rides fine (Google also suggests it can be done) - can anyone confirm please?

Also tried and failed dismally to download the service/install guide from FSA website - does anyone have a PDF they can send me please?

Last year, for the W200; a friend of mine switched over from Dura Ace crankset to a compact Gossamer compact. It worked, perfectly. Hope this helps.

It will work BUT is not a perfect fit as the non drive side cup is slightly smaller for FSA so you have the most minute amount of play/ movement

    However it works fine

That said your better off with the correct BB

    It will work. No problems.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

Does the chainset come with a stopper plate similar to the Shimano chainset i.e. item 7 in the pic below (I didn't get one but not sure if I need one):

Also do I need an O-ring similar to item 8 in the pic?

I've a FSA Gossamer MegaEXO paired to a Tiagra 4600 BB with no issues. No pinch bolt washer (part 7), but I can't remember if there is a spacer between the NDS arm and the BB (part 8).

Just to chuck a dissenting voice into the mix, I was faced with the exact same problem last week, and my research indicated that they'd fit no bother (as indicated by the above replies). So I bought this.

Turns out that it wasn't compatible with my FSA Gossamer crankset. The Ultegra cups fit onto the bb fine, and everything looked like it was going to work, but the crank spindle got stuck in the bb and is still jammed there without having made it through to the other side. It seems that the Ultegra cups are slightly too tight for it. Unless I'm doing something wrong of course.

Right, from looking into this further on the web I found that some people have had to use a mallet to get the thing in. And I can confirm that for me, it did go in when I applied enough force. (I didn't actually have a mallet, so I improvised). Not ideal by any means.

Pushing the axle through by gently using a rubber mallet or a wooden block plus a hammer is pretty much standard procedure for external bottom bracket type cranksets though, so nothing unusual there.

I wasn't aware of that, so cheers for this. The previous bb was FSA, and the crank slipped on and off that easily - only the crank bolt stopped it from slipping out. This one is in rock solid now, so god help me if I need to take it off again. I just realised that in all my fussing over getting it in place, I forgot to grease the bleedin threads on the bb.
