Hi my boyfriend wants to take me away to a romantic hotel for Valentines weekend, we are in loads of time I know! He said to pick anywhere and he will bring me! I would love somewhere with a nice spa and not too expensive, don't want to take the mike outta him!

Can anyone recommend somewhere romantic with a nice spa/leisure centre.

    Thanks! X

Anywhere at Valentines is going to be expensive.

Solis Castle Lough Eske in Donegal is very special.

The cliff house, food is amazing, good spa, jacuzzi outside on the cliff. Expensive but worth it. My favourite hotel in Ireland.

We had our honeymoon at Dunbrody House in Wexford. Fabulous food and the spa was lovely too. Nice grounds for romantic walks. I've heard good things about Monart too.

Cliff house hotel is gorgeous, very modern, great food, stunning views.

My most romantic place doesn't have a spa... It's the Old Convent in clogheen, tipperary. It's more a roaring fire, deep bath kinda place. Food is awesome. Very relaxed spot. My husband decided to propose there. :)

I like the spa in the G hotel in galway, and it's one my husband will go to as well. Very male-friendly in there with the shared thermal suite.

The europe in kerry is supposed to have a stunning spa.

Hayfield manor in cork city is a beautiful place as well. Great spa. It's fine-dining, white table cloth, silver service. You don't say what age you are, wouldn't suit someone in their 20's I think.

I'd second the Seafield. It's beautiful, the spa area is unreal. It's in a lovely area too, with a gorgeous beach for walks. The food is sublime in both the main restaurant and the Golf Club.

We've been many times and it's never disappointed.

If you really wanted to take the piss op you could go here: http://www.ballyfin.com/Accommodation/Rooms---suites.aspx

You already said you didn't though and Ballyfin would really really be pushing it :pac:

Wow! I have never heard of this place, but have just spent the last half hour on the website and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. I wanna go!

I know its amazing ! Literally everythings all inclusive of the price so you do get your moneys worth. But that really is a lot of money !

Its supposedly the most expensive hotel in Ireland !

It was bought by an American billionaire and restored by his wife. With literally no expense or detail spared. Its expected that the hotel will never recoup the loss of the restoration.

Loads of celebs etc are known to have stayed there and rented the whole house out. Namely Kanye West and Kim Kardashian among others.

I live close to Ballyfin but haven't been around the grounds since the renovation. It looks amazing though from the website! If it's good enough for Beyonce and Jay-Z, then why not :)

As far as i know the grounds are off limits unless you are staying there - and at nearly a grand a night i don't think many of us will be there too soon!!

If Castlemartyr is good enough for Kimye, then I'd say it's gotta be high on your list!

Castlemartyr is nothing special, and they are snooty so-and-so's to boot. About as romantic down there as a wet blanket.

That's a shame, they look amazing from the website. When it was a school, we would go there for basketball matches and athletics. Even then the grounds were very pretty.

We'll just have to hold out for a big lotto win to experience it I guess.

Dosn't have a leisure centre but does have a jacuzzi and steam room in their newer development behind the hotel. It is a fantastic place plus the food is superb! It wouldn't have the usual luxuries like a modern hotel but that is it's charms.

    The food was great.

    Don't remember a jacuzzi/steam room. Maybe it wasn't there when I stayed.

The steam room etc is sort of up behind the castle, where the owners live. They've done up a load of self catering apartments up there to cater for any overflow of guests from the castle. They installed the Jacuzzi and steam room in one if these buildings. First time I saw them there was 2011, I don't know how long they were there beforehand.
