Heading to Carlingford for the weekend and hoping to get some open water swimming done, anyone have any experience swimming up there? Where is best or where to avoid? Been in the village once or twice and remember there is a bit of a sheltered area that the adventure centre use, anyone know what it's like to swim there?

Have swum there with no problems in area enclosed by adventure centre and nearest pier to it, although you need mid / high tide. Think you could probably head further out beyond that inlet swimming parallel to the shore (kayaks and other water sports for hungover people happen there so should be safe and also extra bodies around!), but according to a local, the current in the channel itself is strong. Otherwise, beware boats although didn't seem busy when I was there!
