i am interested in a submersible pump for my water butt, but is it possible to get one that will work with one of those power hoses that i bought a few yrs ago in argos,
a few days ago i tried to use this power hose with a hose attached between it and water butt, but i realised that it needs to have water flowing to it for it to work,
it does not suck in the water so i need something that will push the water to it,

Unless I am misunderstanding the question, could you not just add a hose compatible tap to the bottom of the Waterbutt and let gravity feed the water to the powerhouse? I assume what you tried was simply connecting one end of a garden hose to the powerwasher and dipped the other end into the water at the top of the butt.

you are right i did dip the end of hose over the top of water, as i was afraid that sediment from bottom of tank would flow out tap at bottom of butt, so i was hoping to get the upper water down to last couple inches of tank and then toss out the last of the water with the sedement at bottom of tank,
but anyway is there submersible pump that would do the job of pushing the water through the power hose so i could use that,

    Hi goat 2
You can buy a proplus submercible pump in Heaton buckley( are the agents ). I have one in my water butt. It;s a 1.1 bar. They are around €52. great little pump and will feed your washer. J have done a few modifications to the fitting you geet with the pump and have the pump permanently set in butt with a tap on outside. hozelock fittings work with the pieces you recieve with pump. Put 2 bricks sitting in bottom of butt and leave pump on bricks. This will keep the sedement from coming up through pump. Set the flow switch to turn off pump before it starts to take sedemnt of bottom of butt.

According to this video you don't need a pump at all for Karcher power washers ..

So fit the tap a few inches from the bottom of the butt with a sediment trap in the bottom??? What am I missing here??

BTW, how long did you run the power washer for. Even connected to an outdoor tap my old one took a few seconds to start spraying water.

yes now that you say it, the tap is fitted about four inches from bottom of butt and yes the sediment is below it, thanks for that tip,
also i must look see is mine a karcher but it would not work when i put the hose in the top of the butt

Can a pressure washer use water from a water butt?

Some expensive pressure washers can use water from a water butt but most are only designed to use mains water. However, Karcher offer a special suction hose with a filter as an optional extra for many of their models which enables them to use water from a butt. This costs about £34.

The water butt already has a tap fitted??

Have you not tried connecting the Karcher to the water butt tap?

    Incompatible connection?

Adapters for the hose are cheaper than water pumps.
