About 4 weeks ago Vodafone called my sister a million times and pleaded her to get their broadband service. My sis said we're moving house soon and we can't decide now. Vodafone was like get this amazing fiber broadband service for only €25 and when u move to the new house, they'll set up the connection instantly. The only thing is my sister had to agree to the contract that very day since the next day the offer would be unavailable. So she agreed to a 2 yr contract.

Now we moved into the new house two weeks ago. After many phone calls Vodafone are saying it's gonna take upto a month for the internet to set up! This is super inconvenient cuz firstly they lie to my sis saying the internet will get set up immediately after we move to the new house and now they're saying it'll take a freaking month! And if we wanna cancel the contract we'll have to pay €600! This is bull**** cuz first they fail to provide the service in time and now they won't even let us get out if the contract!

So what the heck should we do? And if we do plan to stick with Vodafone is there any temporary 3G like thing we can use for a month cuz we need internet to get work done!

    Thanks!!

You need to exhaust the internal complaints procedure with Vodafone first before you go to CommReg (the industry regulator). Send a registered letter to the complaints department in Vodafone head office pointing out all the above and stating that you want them to cancel your contract by such and such a date since they are unable to provide a service to you. If they reject your complaint or fail to offer an acceptable alternate solution to you then you can complain them to CommReg.

Request a copy of the phone call recording.

Thanks that sounds like the next best move. Do I have to write the letter or can I just send an email or something?

Your sis was a mug for accepting pressurised selling! That said, bad form from Voda.

I know but that's how they get you! They called my sis like 5 times and then were like you've gotta accept it today to get this amazing deal!!! It's the fatest award winning internet in Ireland and will get set up immediately without any problem... They're evil!

A registered letter is better as you will have proof of delivery.

Got meself out of contract early due to horrendous quality of service from Ripplecom last year after sending a complaint to Comreg with Ripple's mishandling of tech support. Lack of actual service should get you out relatively quick.
