Issues following re insulating

    Hi

Want to get a view on an issue that has developed.

I recently re insulated the majority of my non party interior walls with 85mm+ warm board. I opted not to reinsulate the chimney breast.

This has caused an issue in the main bedroom through which the chimney breast runs. Dot n Dab adhesive patches have appeared through the plasterboard and paint work.

I am guessing because I did not reinsulate the chimney breast the adhesive patches have formed a cold bridge and condensation has built up etc etc. Is this the case and if so why is it only happening in the bedroom and not the living room.

What is my best course of action here. Will I have to reinsulate the chimney breast or is there a quick fix for this?

I did not use a contractor and did the work myself so I don't have recourse against anyone.

    Cheers for any input.

A water stain will always show through emulsion paint on walls and ceilings.
I'm only guessing here but the dot & dab stain could be from the water that was in it soaking into the board before it all set. With luck this is all that is wrong.
To paint over water stains, paint first with an oil based paint. White wood undercoat paint is perfect. Might need a few oil based coats, depending on how bad the stain is. Then you paint on the emulsion.
I might be pointing you in the wrong direction but it is cheap & worth a try. :-)

How have these "appeared" exactly? Any pics?

This could be the cause and why it is not happening in the living room may well be the fact that it is warmer there (and therefore warmer wall) in winter and therefore no continuous condensation happening.
Ventilation (inappropriate) may also have a role to play.
