    Hi folks,

Looking for accommodation in galway city for 20+ people on the 5th of July. It's a staff night out. We range from mid twenties to early sixties if that makes a difference. Would the student places take such a big group?

    Cheers

That is a lot of people and I suppose you want a cheap sleep, would getting a hostel dorm be an option (or two separated by gender)?
If so check with Sleepzone or Kinlay House

Ya it is a good few. It we be 95% lads anyway I'd say. Maybe a hostel would be a better option but the idea of apartments is more appealing with the group.

Theres also Snoozles, Barnacles and The Savoy Hostel. I wouldnt bother with the remaining ones, not as desirable.

Expect to pay a reasonable behaviour deposit for a hostel.

First I've ever heard of this.

It happens sometimes but usually applies to stags and such.

Perhaps www.nilandhouseapartments.com but tbh it's probably booked already.

If you ring up a hostel and say "I'm looking for accommodation for a group of 20 people for a work night out: 19 lads and one woman - then the hostel staff are going think to themselves "yeah, right, what kind of cheap company puts its staff up in a hostel, this is a stag in disguise".

OP, if it really is a work outing, then there will almost certainly be a wide range of expectations in the group about an acceptable standard of accommodation. There WILL be some who think that a hostel is beneath their dignity. There will be some who refuse to share a room with colleagues. There WILL be some who think a hotel is too expensive, if they're paying personally.

So - if the company is paying, then start ringing hotels (try Travelodge, Connacht Hotels, Flannerys, the Imperial. They all take people from bus tours, would have that number of rooms.

If people are paying for themselves, then give the the names of the hotels and hostels above (or maybe just a subset if you want groups together), and tell them to make their own bookings according to their preferences.

Try searching for places on GroupLeader.com, they specialise in group bookings and you can buy as a group and pay separately if you like.

Some hostels also run apartments so it's worth ringing around and asking. You should be able to book out one or two dorms with 20+ people so you won't be sharing with others really.

If your booking out a load of rooms in travelodge they should give you some discounts. You're paying for the room with them too not per person so you can have 4 or 5 per room. They usually have a fold out couch in the room.
