I have been suffering from psoriasis for the past 3 years ad it has been quite severe for quite a long time. I have been given a steroid based cream called dovobet for it but it only seems to work for about a week and then it goes back to square one. I went into the doctors last week and got another prescription for this cream which costs about €70 for a small tube. It's costing so much to try keep it under control and it really makes me self concious. I really want to get it sorted now as its coming into the summer and I want to be able to enjoy myself for once and maybe even get a tan on my legs since I haven't done so since the symptoms started.
If any of you know of some good cures or even something to take away the itch from it it would really be great because I'm sure those of you who suffer from it know exactly what its like.
    Thanks :)

The short answer is no, there is no cure.
The aim with Psoriasis is long term management, and with an effective treatment plan you can manage the symptoms really effectively.
I was fighting it on and off with Dovobet whenever I got a flare up for nearly 10 years until I met probably the best GP I will ever have. He put me on a treatment plan using different creams on different days with the result that you try to stop flare ups from happening, and that is really what you want to achieve.
He moved away quite recently and I still haven't settled with a new GP so I'm not doing quite as well as I should be at the minute.
Theres a dedicated Psoriasis thread on the Long Term illness Forum which you should read, I post there quite a lot. We all share ideas of what works or doesn't work etc and just our experiences in general
