Hey, if this is against charter, feel free to delete.

School in Johnstown is running a welding course for the next 6 weeks. Think it's a 100€ total, which is pretty good. They have a proper fas man come in and teach it. Running it for the last few years v successfully.

Anyway, they need 2 or 3 more to fill this coming class. I really want to do the class and so I'd love if someone would fill the last few spaces and ensure it goes ahead.

If anyone is interested please pm me and I'll give ya the number to ring the school (or google it).

P.s I've nothing got to do with the school, I just want the course full so I can do it.

Where abouts is Johnstown? Can you post a link to the college or course? Is it beginner/ professional level etc?

A little bit more info might get some more responses.

Sorry. Johnstown is North Kilkenny, bout half hour from kk city and half hour from portlaoise.
It's not a college, it's a vocational secondary school, so no link to a course. It's MMA arc welding.
I believe it runs as a beginner course, but going from reports I think it finishes at a decent level. I don't think it's coded or anything like that.
I'd imagine it suits those who have an interest in welding but need to either get a foundation of knowledge or brush up on a few aspects.

Plan was tomorow. But I'd say they'll put it back if they don't get the numbers. They've been advertising it for the last few weeks locally

Did it there for the last 7 weeks. Found it great, 3 hours a night. Good instructor, who had about 30 years experience. Think there's another one starting in January. €120 a head

Didn't see any prices yet. Open day tomorrow, so might drop in if I'm in town.

Well that's a no-no so. If they ran a night course in Tig or Mig I might be interested, but if it was more than 200 or 250 then probably not. Not planning on going welding on the oil rigs .

Hi, Yeah, went to the open day for a look-see. Good looking set up. 28 welding booth's, plus 5 bigger booths. Fume extraction, anti-glare curtains etc. There are full time courses you can sign up for, but didn't enquire about them. You can do part time night classes or day classes, as time and money allows. a night class runs from 6.45 till 9.15 approx. this is 35 euro. You can do 4 nights a week, or one a week or one a month, whatever suits. When they feel you are ready for an exam you are encouraged to do it. Doesn't matter if you are ready after 4 classes or 12, they claim they don't string you along for more money, as soon as they feel you are ready, you can do it. These are the coded exams that FAS course work towards. Don't know where the classes are held, but your work pieces are sent to Dublin (I think) for evaluation. Each exam is 35. Will try a few TIG and MIG classes in the new year.
Seemingly (according to an informant I have!) the guys running it have a Fabrication company who do a lot of factory/meat processor work, and can never find enough coded welders for the work available. Hopefully it succeeds.
I have no connection of any kind with this concern or its owners.
