Online defamation - would this classify?

Not going into detail, as it is a sensitive topic- but if an organisation stated something about me online that was defamatory and untrue, would this be classed as online defamation or libel?

I don't want to give too much about it, but if an organisation publicly branded you as something, with your full and true identity mentioned, as well as theirs, what would the case be?

Would I have grounds for a legal challenge or what?

Simple answer yes, go to a solicitor who will be able to fully advice with all the information.

    Thank you for your advice.

Is there any that can be recommended without charging tons for a consultation?
I'm not too good for money, to be honest.

Many solicitors will do a consultation for free, search google, golden pages or asks friends and family then ring around.

Get screenshots or printouts of the comments made. Also nice if you can somehow show how many people have viewed the comments. Some forums do that.

As someone who deals in media law, a lot of solicitors aren't very well versed in defamation so i would recommend doing a bit of research and contact a few solicitors who do a bit of defamation work. I will also say you need to act quickly, because there is a tight limitation period of 1 year to bring an action (the extra year extension isn't something to rely on).

The Defamation Act essentially merges the old concepts of libel and slander into defamation. http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/2009/en/act/pub/0031/sec0006.html#sec6
