Has anyone any experience with buying a house when you are waiting on approval from the bank . I know I have deposit and getting approved shouldn't be an issue but how quick can a bank approve you if you want to put in an offer on a house ?

Most agents will pass on your offer to sellers without you having the approval, they don't need to know. Having said that you can get approval in principal with BOI over the phone in 15mins, or with most banks with a face to face appt, no docs necessary as it's 'in principal', and only full approVal once you provide all documents to support your figures.

Get approval in principal, make the offer if you are under pressure to do so...
