Spending money, depends what you want to do! 7 nights is a long time in Vegas. If you want to gamble, you'd want €2k to really have fun. Most tables have steep enough buy in's. YOu would want to be comfortable with €100 buy in etc. Depending on your game. If you just want to see shows etc, I'd still want about €1k I don't care about. I'm 24 and I vowed if I went back I'd want about €2 to 4k I didn't care about to just go mental. Its not a cheap town.

I've been there 4 times and generally get by on about $100 a day, sometimes more sometimes less.

Kinda depends on what you want to do while there.

Oh and 7 days will drive you crazy if you spend it all in the city so try to get away for a couple of day trips.

Rent a car and go for a burn out to Red Rock Canyon. You could also get out Death Valley in a few hours, amazing place. Have a look at spending a night out there, the starscape is amazing and you can see wildlife such as eagles and BigHorn sheep.

7 night's in Vegas would turn my brain to mushy soup! Everyone is different but 3 or 4 nights there would be enough for me. It's hard to say how much you would need depending on what you like to do. You will need to have a decent budget to really enjoy the place. If you want to see the shows I always like to book in advance. You may not save any money doing it that was but it is very easy to get distracted there and the night will be gone before you know it. Not a bad thing but there is nothing worse than going somewhere and missing the things you really wanted to see. I always try stay in the MGM Grand. It's not the flashest one on the strip but it's within walking distance of the few of the others and has a monorail station in it. You can get good value rooms there midweek but it goes up at the weekend. The night time helicopter strip flight is a must and not too expensive, about $70 for a 20 minute flight. If you have the cash there is a sunset flight out to the grand canyon that includes a strip flight back. It's expensive at almost $300 person but well worth it. If it's your first time there a party bus tour early in the trip might be worth it, you get into a few clubs and there is free drink on the bus. I have done a few of these and they are always great. You also get to see a few of the clubs in a night and helps decide where to go on the other nights. One of the times I was there with the missus we flew into San Francisco for a few days and then drove through death valley to Vegas. It's a long drive but stunning, something you won't forget. The last time I looked Delta were the cheapest and form Dublin the aircraft are pretty good with personal IFE etc. Check out the new Google flights page, really handy for comparing costs. It's a long way to go and the second flight is a killer. Don't do it with too much drink inside you. I did it once an it was a big mistake. Not sure if any of that helps but will to offer advice, it may be bad though ;-)

I'd a week in Vegas and it was a f*cking scream.

    Highlights:

Skydiving from 3 miles up in the air. $200 including hotel pick up and spin back.

Gun range: annihilate the sh*te out of targets with automatic weapons.

    Bungee jump off the Stratosphere.

Shopping in the outlet malls. Won a few pound gambling so new tracksuits for all.

Drove to Death Valley in California. Saw the wildlife, Indian reservation etc.

    Spin to the Hoover Dam.

    An Audience with Mike Tyson.

    Cirque du Soleil.

    Went to see Rod Stewart.

    Saw David Copperfield.

Night on the p*ss in Old Vegas. Coin operated slots, dive bars and live music.

Mad stuff in the hotels i.e. Venetian, New York New York roller coaster etc.

    Fight museum in Mandalay Bay.

Obligatory p*ss up in Mandalay Bay Irish pub.

    Balm out at the pool.

Best trip I ever had I'd say.

If you're interested in low stakes gambling for the craic then go to Casino Royale on the middle of the main strip, it's a very small casino quite close to the Venetian and opposite the Bellagio. Beer is free if you're gambling and $1 at the bar. Like all tables in Vegas, people are exceptionally chatty and very friendly. Another one is Hooters Casino opposite the MGM Grand, you can play for as little as $3 a hand.

Casino Royale is a place worth checking out as it's more 'cosy' than other places I feel though beer is generally free almost anywhere as long as you're gambling (this includes 25c slots).

If you ain't into gambling then I'd suggest reading up on Blackjack and 'basic strategy'. It's fun to play, easy to learn and won't break the bank. Also as you are playing with the others at the table it's much less intimidating than poker for the beginner.

Most casinos have free 'training' on blackjack, roulette and craps before 12am so worth checking out as you know that you'll only be with people who have never played before.

Sure at one point I was so p*ssed I was just asking the croupier what I should do and she was grand about it. Then again I'm a charming rogue.

If you're doing the helicopter tour do not book with Papillon!

I booked mine through Viator and had no problems.

We've done vegas on a number of occasions, and are back again this Nov for 5 nights, as part of a 3 centre holiday (Vegas, Los Cabos, San Francisco).

We saw Rod Stewart, and a couple of other shows, and did the Hoover dam trip.

I did a bit of gambling, but frankly that's not really why we go there, it's just a really live place with lots to keep you entertained.

Food & drink can be quite cheap in the casinos, you'll see a lot of "larger" folks there, pigging out on the buffets.

Hotels off strip can be really cheap, on Strip there is a wide range of prices, but weekend nights everywhere tend to be more expensive than midweek, Vegas is used a lot by americans as a long weekend. We generally stay high end, Palazzo and Venetian last time.

Mind you, couldn't/wouldn't do it at a high level except most of this trip is once again being paid for by loyalty points, including 1st class flights LHR-LAS on BA.

In terms of getting to Vegas cheaply, I recently showed how you could fly one-way DUB-LAS for £63 all in.

You'll find it on my blog, the link for which is in my signature. If you can't see the signature, it is because you have signatures disabled in your profile.

I did not think you could get that MBNA card unless you are a UK resident. I may look into that.

You are correct. I'm in N.I, so some of my points accrual strategies rely on UK based offers.

MBNA doesn't have an AA (or indeed any airline affinity cards), in Ireland.

We used Maverick and they were fine.

Yes they play 'Dangerzone' from Top Gun.

    I'd no problems with them.

Seven nights in Vegas may be too long. You will find hotel rates to be very reasonable, more so a little off the main strip. Food and liquor are also cheap, they want you to hang out and gamble. Definitely go to the Grand Canyon! Since you'll be there for so long, rent a car and drive around. Zion national park in SW Utah is beautiful.

A week in vegas is perfect IMO. I did it recently.
Day 1 picked up rental car, dinner, checked in to hotel
Day 2 cosmopolitan hotel, New York New York, Caesars palace
Day 3 outlet shopping and dinner at the stratosphere tower
Day 4 road trip to Grand Canyon
Day 5 Venetian then Fremont street to see the light show and heart attack grill
Day 6 fashion show mall, bellagio and the Wynn
Day 7 pool all day, Paris hotel and show that night

Always had some drinks in a bar at night and went 2 nights clubbing. It's a great city and such fun. Even if you don't gamble the hotels are so amazing you'll spend lots of time just wandering around. I enjoy gambling, I'm definitely a low roller, but I enjoy the table games as they're more social than the slots.
Finally bring the most comfortable shoes you own. If you need anymore info let me know.
