I think im at my last straw. When you have this broadband issue since August of last year and your no where nearer to be fixed. What can you do?

The only fixed iv been told is to upgrade the exchange but im no where neared to getting an answer of when this will be done. Why cant Eircom support, just contact their wholesale to get an answer? Iv been told that the wholesale often ignores emails and dont answer mobiles (engineers)

I rang Comreg who are spineless anyway and was told they cant force Eircom to upgrade the exchange or even get a date out of them. If Eircom told Comreg " we have no offical date" Comreg wouldn't beable to further investigate the issue.

Is there anything I can do?

Where are you located? It might be an idea to switch to fixed wireless if UPC/cable is not available. If you wish here is the Eircom wholesale site, which should identify your area and give an indication on rollout of Fibre http://www.eircomwholesale.ie/Our_Network/. See if this has any answers for you under the NGA Fibre Broadband Network tab.

Sounds like a nightmare. I've not read the full thread but have you tried another modem, not a crappy ISP provided one, but something like a Linksys AM300 (modem only) with a separate router. They're usually a lot more stable, mine syncs much faster than any other modem

I am very surprised that there is no fixed wireless operator (or even mobile)that has a transmitter that covers your area.

Ireland Offline has a guide map to give you an idea of what could be available and might be worth a look. The link for this is:
