I was browsing through a jobsite and seen jobs for asbestos removal operators.I always thought that these jobs were highly paid work turns out it €15 p/h you must have a safe pass, a manual handling certificate and a dangerous chemical handling certificate.

OK €15 p/h at the moment is a good hourly rate but personally I think it should be higher for a job like this especially if they want the people to have a the certificates.

When times were good I had a job that paid €2 more for a lot easier work and safer and needed no certificates.

Jobs are being offered by OAK recruitment.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples thoughts on it.

BTW if I had all the certs they wanted I would have applied straight away

The thought the operator themselves had to be licensed in asbestos removal. Guess I was wrong on that front.

I'd say that's the key point here; at the end of the day they'll end up paying what people are willing to start at or not get people. People will take the job if they feel they can't get anything better (and it's not like it's a life time job).
