As soon as the Revenue get the form they normally process it within a few days.

    There is a quicker way.

Do you know if your company use Revenue On Line?

If they do, then you get the companies registered number, call the revenue, give them your RSI number, your companies number and within about two days the online system will be updated with your correct tax credit details, and your company can take that information and use it immediately.

You'll have your tax adjusted and any overpayment refunded once your company get your correct tax credits and apply that onto payroll

No don't think they have that, i seen people saying it could take 12 weeks for them to send me my tax certificate, is that true? Do you know if they process these things quickly?

I'd be surprised if it took long tbh, I don't actually know, as I always call them up with my details, and they issue the cert fairly quickly

If it's your first job ever then you need to wait to have your form 12a processed as Revenue have no record of you at all.
If it's not your first job then a phone call is all it should take as Revenue have a record for you.

Regarding processing times, there are multiple Revenue offices in the country so depending on staff resources in the PAYE section of the office you sent the form to, you could be waiting a number of weeks for a tax credit cert to issue.
Once received by your employer, it's up to them to use it as soon as they can so they cam tax you correctly.

Can you fill out a 12A form and send to Revenue before you actually start? Have accepted a job and start in early June and don't want to be stuck on emergency tax for ages!

Yes, you'll)need to get some details from your employer that are required on the form however :0

    Perfect!

And can I just use the form from here and post it off, or do I have to do it in person at the tax office? http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/forms/form12a.pdf

Is this the only form I need to fill out?

    Thanks in advance

And sorry to the OP but pretty much had the same question as you!

    Yes only form

I'd post it off to be honest, maybe pay for recorded delivery so you know they got it?

Or post it off, wait a week and ring to see if they've gotten it

When i get my tax certificate, will my employer then refund me the emergency tax straight away? And yes this is my first job.
