Health Services issues highlighted by Beaumont resignation

Just been listening to the RTE 6 one news, and the story about the ongoing issues at Beaumont.

I have one question for the HSE,

WHEN, if ever, are they going to recognise that as far as health services are concerned, there is no such thing as "out of hours", or "weekend" cover at the front line level?

From what I can see of it, there is a simple requirement, which is that core and fundamental Health services need to be available to people that present themselves at a Hospital for treatment, regardless of the Time, or Day that they do so.

I find it incredible and bizarre that the people at the top of the tree in health still have a 5 day 8 hour mentality towards the provision of health care, which all too often results in massive queues for services.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

    .

Don't think the HSE read After hours. Try emailing them instead?

Was in Beaumont Hospital not long a go. It really is bad. At best i'd describe the A&E there as second world.

Where has all the money gone that was suppose to deal with all that in the boom?

Repeated giveaway budgets to buy votes used up a good chunk of it.

Having worked in a semi state with a 24 hour/365 day brief I can tell you that amongst the senior administrators, there was very little concept of anything other than 9-5 (with an hour break) monday to friday.
Those who have never done shift work rarely understand it.

I work for Irish Rail as a member of front line staff and i agree 100% with you assessment. Anyone above a certain grade seems to forget that we run trains 363 days a year, evenings, weekends and bank holidays from sun-up to sun-down.

They stroll in around 9 and are gone by 4 and take home more of a wage packet than anyone else in the place and it makes very little difference whether they show up at all to be honest because i can't for the life of me figure out what it is that they actually do.

Its amazing isnt it? If I as a normal worker didnt show up for a week, my department would have been in chaos. If the CEO didnt show for 6 months, it would have had absolutely zero impact on delivery of service. Yet he is paid about 10 times more than me.

If i don't show up the station doesn't open up and there's no one to dispatch trains safely so no one is going anywhere and i can get fired.

If my manager doesn't show up then i don't have anyone to come out and suggest dumb unworkable **** i can do to "improve" my job which he has never done.

Theres plenty of money in the health system. Its spent badly. Giving more wont help because itll just be spent badly in larger amounts.
