I'm thinking of using this image in the next (3rd) round of APOY 2014. I got nowhere in round one, don't know about round 2 but need to get something in for round 3 as I'm heading of for a short break.

Seeing as I'm going nowhere I've decided to try something outside my comfort zone.

The theme is movement. What do you think - B&W, colour, or neither?

Sorry, but to me it just looks blurred. I wouldn't enter either. I'm sure you have something better in your collection.

yeah I'm with Paul on this. The shot doesn't really do anything for me, just looks like camera shake as opposed to anything suggesting movement. In addition the B&W is completely bland and featureless and the colour version is garish and over saturated.

Not one of your better shots Adrian, a little bit to much motion
I think, needs something static in it to bring out the motion if you know what I mean?

Whatever you do, don't hold back :D

Thanks for the honest feedback - sometimes my "quality filter" needs a re-set - this is obviously one of those occasions :)

I have a few in mind, and if its OK with you guys, I'll put them up for feedback over the next 48 hours or so.

I'd go with neither, I don't think they work. Not up to your usual standard.

Theme is World In Motion, not 100% same as movement.

As above, looks too blurred, especially the B&W one.
I have a few contenders too, might go abstract as well to make it different from the bunch too.

In relation to your original question I prefer the colour, the BW is totally lifeless/souless.

There's something I like about the top half of the colour one... but would have to agree with everyone else that neither are up to your usual high standard

I prefer the colour - I don't think the top 1/3rd adds much and it might be nicer cropped as a square from the bottom.

Just back from a few days in France - caught this one on the Avenue de Charles De Gaul in Perpignan.

    What do you think?

    I much prefer the colour.

Much better, I prefer this one in colour, it gives more of a sense of motion.

Colour too. The black and white has too much black and the (law breaking, going on wrong side of the street on mobile without a helmet) guy doesn't stand out from the background

I prefer the black and white. Gives it more of a classic street photography feel.

I would take on board the points above, though. The background is too dark and as a result some of the movement blur is diminished and the subject (and the phone in his hand) is harder to distinguish.

Should be an easy fix with some level adjustments and D&B.

Colour for me, seems to be much more definition in it.

for me the one with the leaves moving in black and white looks better I see the point and I like it nice one something very different then your useual... :)

Some Digital Reflector applied to the subject.
