Best 7 seater (old thread)

Hi im looking for a little bit of help regarding buying a 7 seater car. Looking for advice and people's opinions on which is the best one. I'm looking for a 08.

Have you considered the Honda Frv? It's only a 6 seater with two rows of 3 full size seats, but you still get a huge boot unlike most 7 seaters where 2 seats are in your boot.
We have a 08 one and never had an ounce of trouble it's a 1.8 petrol, 2.2 diesels are scarce here, as far as I know the diesel version wasn't available in Ireland

Do you need 7 seats and boot space, or 5 seats plus 2 seats that fold down to make a boot?
What's your budget?
What sort of driving/mileage will you be doing?

I'd need 6 seats so could fold one down I hope. Have about 8/9k

8-9k isn't gonna get you much in a big 7 seater post 08 - but the frv as mentioned above will easily fall into budget.
I wouldn't get one if you are gonna have 6 people in the car most of the time.

I'd be looking at slightly older Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharans if you need space.

Got an FRV myself, great job.

I looked at various 7 seaters, and decided not to go for them in the end.

Reasons:

1) Seats 6 and 7 were very small, only useful for small kids
2) Seats 6 and 7 were only a few inches from a rear collision
3) The cars were all quite large/long
4) I didn't really need 7 seats, more like 5 or 6.
5) With seats 6 and 7 in place, you basically have no boot space on most of the cars.

And for these reasons, I went with the FRV.

Hi guys, sorry to railroad this thread but seems like the right place. In a few months we will be going from carting round our two kids, to carting round three kids (under 4) + associated grandparents etc. Its becoming apparent that my beloved Octavia will no longer be sufficient and we will be in need of a 6/7 seater.

Having read all of the above, I am wondering would the likes of a Santa Fe (2010?) be a good choice? Budget is circa 18k.

All advice greatfully appreciated.
