I've got Sky and as you know there are hundreds of free-to-air channels.
Most of them are shoite but I always seem to come across a real gem of a channel. At the moment it's Pick.

They show great police docu's and Road Wards and stuff like that.

Then you've got the bizarre; the God channel and whatnot.

What TV channel have you found that's weird/a bit "out there"/worth finding etc that you'd recommend?

    Awaits first mention of Babestation.

MTV - They don't show any music on it at all. Just annoying pregnant American teenagers.

I miss the occasional blast of fox news but you have to pay to get it now. It was fantastic though for that last thing at night spectacle of oddness.

Showcase - now showing "County Matters - Leitrim - news and views from around the county"

about as out there (wherever it is) as it can be

dididily music - get your steel fencing - chain link, box link, kinky link...

    Edit - ODG, there's a 24 hour shoe shopping channel 659 - don't miss Slippers and Clogs at 2am:rolleyes:

CNBC is actually incredible. It's a business channel but the amount of effort in a 30 min company profile or an industry is unreal. They also have great documentaries constantly on the growing us weed industry ( more valuable to the Californian economy than wine). Some of the stuff on it is mind blowing

But a great channel to help you sleep is E entertainment. 5 mins into keeping up with the kardashians and you will be nodding off to sleep

Showcase was showing Santa Claus vs. The Devil near Christmas, worth a watch next year.

I genuinely find the really loud obnoxious foreign channels hilarious when I'm drunk.

Sky Arts 1, a decent selection of music docs and legendary concerts, BBC 3 and 4 can have decent music docs on too or good documentaries in general.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

BBC 4, for Lucy Worsley alone, and PBS for decent documentaries. Most of the other docu channels have turned to reality crap

The Irish and British terrestrial channels are more than enough for me.

This is the full list of channels on the satellites at 28 East, take your choice. Plenty of radio stations as well.

Most of what you watch on satellite/cable has already been shown on terrestrial channels.

I love Vintage TV. They show music videos going back to the fifties or further. There's a great one of Gene Vincent performing Be Bop A Lula and they sometimes play Motown songs. If they want to play a song that doesn't have a video (often something from the thirties or forties) they just make their own one by compiling a load of old news reel footage.

Recently however they've started showing more and more videos that are only ten to fifteen years old, which are far less interesting. It still has a better variety of music than the likes of MTV Classic though. Unfortunately the reception has been really bad here for the last few weeks and I can't watch it anymore.

RT Russia Today. News channel. A different perspective.

Challenge for me. I love the old game shows and some of them really show you how dumbed down modern television is.

Also, it's quite amusing to see how low the prize money was back in the 80s.

Bloomberg. You can sit there watching those numbers constantly changing everywhere on the screen and think to yourself, "if only I could figure out what these numbers mean, I'd be a millionaire!"

And another 2 LNB's to the dish and you can also get HotBird and Astra 1 , lots of better music channels.

It takes 30 minutes to scan through all the channels and by then you're convinced that something good must have started since the last scan,.

I found myself watching a Nigerian soap opera yesterday on one of those African channels.

It was like Crossroads set in Lagos.
