Was it a Fallow deer, they are protected under the Wildlife Act.

What that means is even if you find an injured deer, you are asked to please report it to your nearest Wildlife Ranger (NPWS) or Garda station. This also implies that you report this attack you witnessed.

    Local NPWS Wildlife Ranger

Were they hunting it or did dog go on a solo run?

Have trouble here with the hiace club hunting deer with dogs at night, especially during moonlit winters nights.

Shot a deer I found caught up in silage twine in local wood last year. Poor ****3r was distressed. I was on on mtb bike at time.

Taste of blood now. I'd be putting that dog down if he was mine. Sheep next

You would have your dog killed for it hunting one deer? Personally, I would simply keep it on lead in the woods if it were a danger to deer... But, hey, that's just me.
