It is quite heartening to see the Turkish people out in the streets in solidarity for the miners who are still trapped, injured or who have lost their lives.

But, I do wonder what the Irish would do. If a government-owned mine collapsed and miners were killed or trapped due to poor working conditions -
do you think the Irish would take to the streets?

The taxpayer would be forced to compensate client companies for non delivery of coal. The coal mine safety regulator would retire and receive a 600k lump sum plus a €120k annual pension. The head of the coal mining department would be promoted to a top job in Brussels. And the widows of the dead miners would be evicted from their homes.

Like humans beings the world over would, I suppose.

How would we react, when Ireland installs it's first floating portaloo in low earth orbit, but we have 3 of our astronauts trapped inside it?

    Rioting doesn't solve anything.

It wouldn't collapse/explode in the first place as we do damn fine mines. That's pretty much it.

    Rioting doesn't solve anything.

It can "solve" having a nasty dictator as leader. Passively accepting your faith certainly doesn't solve anything. Haven't Greek riots benefitted Ireland's debt terms?
