Her's is an 07 Clio and 50,000km on the clock.

Been advised to get new timing belts etc.

Renault Dublin garages all €500 mark. I see Audi can do it for €449 . Any reason that this is so?

what guarantee is there if done in an independent garage?

The car is out of warranty so it would be mad to pay dealership prices.

A good indy would be my preferred route.

Put up where you are and someone should be able to give you recommendations.

Audi timing belts and renault timing belts are different, not to mention tensioners and water pumps etc. The 449 would be a price for an audi timing belt replacement.
Id say they'd charge more for a renault.

With regards to the next question, good independents will give a warranty, will do as good if not better job than the dealers and will be cheaper.
Dodgy independents won't.....so find a good independent and you're laughing
