I seem to recall UTV offering fibre in Ireland and only a few months ago one of their techs said it was available. It came available in my area today and when I called UTV they said they were not offering fibre due to a 'problem' and he had no idea when they would.

Anybody any idea what the story is?

Forgetting about UTV, check with Vodafone if Fibre is available in your area. You can check with their online checker.

I think the "technical" problem is that UPC simply can't compete with the very low prices of Vodafones Fibre packages, so they never rolled it out.

I'm in contract with UTV and they always supplied the best package when we shopped around.

I have UTV fibre got it installed around november last year so they definitely do it.

From UTV twitter feed "Still a few wholesale issues with fibre, we only want to offer the best possible service so
we've stopped selling it for a short time. We only want the best for our customers! Thanks"

Doing a sky and waiting for the others to pay the installation fees? Maybe so.

What ping times do you get with them? Do you mind posting speedtest results?

House is about 1600m from fibre cabinet so speed isn't great about twice speed of old dsl connection.
