Dangerous undertake On Shoulder M9

I was in the overtaking lane (yeah in the Prius :D ) on the M9 Kilcullen bypass few kms before turn off for Kilcullen around 7.10 this evening heading south when a car which looked like a grey Focus estate undertook a rigid driving in the left lane in the shoulder at speed. He was easily doing 120 kph in the shoulder.

I couldn't report it because I didn't see the reg, not even the year he was going that fast. He was easily doing over 160 kph once he passed he was completely out of sight in no time.

Really dangerous stunt. For one he couldn't have seen properly if there was something in the shoulder, someone stopped changing a tyre would have been smashed to pieces all over the motorway.

I really wanted to catch up with him to get the reg. ( but no not cause I was driving a Prius I didn't) :pac:

Stupid move on his behalf alright.

Why were you in the overtaking lane? Were you actually overtaking or just hanging around there for needlessly long time?

get down off that horse carefully....he said the guy undertook a rigid....rather implies Prius-Man was overtaking said rigid....

One has to wonder whether the OP's tax and insurance is OK. Whether his NCT is OK. Whether the OP was transporting a dead prostitute in the boot.

Can any thread be written in here anymore without accusing the OP of murder ?

I was indeed over taking the rigid but there was a car in front of me that was doing about 110 kph, not exactly slow.

Even if traffic was doing 80 kph there was absolutely no justification for what could have been a fatal move, there is no way he could have seen if there was a car stopped in the shoulder from behind the rigid.

I'm just so annoyed I didn't get the reg or have a dash cam, but the cam wouldn't have picked up the reg.

And this is the reason I've more or less stopped posting in this forum. Every single bloody thread is derailed by people on high horses with nothing better to do.

I'd put money on it being a guard.

Granted not a very safe manuveour anyways but why do you say he couldn't he have seen anything in front of him on the hard shoulder?

There are some unusual Garda cars I've seen on that stretch. Everything from old V70 Volvo's to clapped out Mondeo's. Its a very unusual maneuverer however but one I have seen Garda cars do before. Granted however in that location they should have been on blues.

Think about it, if you're behind a rigid you can't see something ahead or in the shoulder and the driver would be to the right, it's not like he edged in slowly he just went for it.

All a Guard had to do is put on the lights and people would have moved, a stunt like that even for a Guard would have been highly dangerous.

The person in the car in front wasn't exactly crawling but he did move over for me as soon as he passed the rigid. He wasn't the type of person that drives continuously in the over taking lane just because they're doing the speed limit.

Not too many focus estates in the Garda.
    1. Stolen? Or evading some other incident further back the road.
    2. Extreme medical emergeny?
    3. Brain dead caused by lack of oxygen to the brain - see no. 2.

More than likely a tourist used to overtaking on the left and forgetting themselves for a minute.

The irony of people accusing me of being on a high horse.

I asked the OP a question. I asked was he overtaking or hanging around there. He answered. Sorted. I didn't accuse him of anything, as some of you suggest.

it's not relevant what the OP was doing.
