Public Transport Option from Rathangan to Dublin

    Hi,

A friend is hoping to commute from Rathangan, Co. Kildare to Harcourt Street in Dublin and is wondering what the best public transport option would be. There is no parking at the office (not to mention terrible traffic if driving own car).

Are there public or private buses that would serve such a route? The train to Hueston and subsequent change to Luas/Dublin bus would be very time consuming so it would be better if there was a more direct option.

    Thanks for your help.

Bus Éireann route 126 operates from Rathangan at 06:50 that operates to Kildare Street (due there at 08:30).

The return departure in the evening is at 17:30 from Connolly LUAS stop, picking up at the Ha'penny Bridge.

    The full timetable is here:
    http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1324572943-126.pdf

Otherwise use the National Journey Planner at www.a-b.ie to check for other options (there aren't any other services from Rathangan however).

You may need to tweak the settings a bit under "my journey preferences".

If using the train, don't use Luas, get a bus from Heuston to Leeson Street - 25b or 145.

Other options which would depend on private car might be Edenderry from where there might be a bus, Kildare has bus (public and private) and train (to Heuston) connections, or Maynooth possibly (though a stretch) for bus/train (on the Connolly side) connections. All of which would be within 30-40 mins initial drive.

The a-b website mentioned above is good for planning.

From Kildare (M7 corridor generally) dublincoach.ie goes to westmoreland street, and there are also private services from JJ Kavanaghs (I think) and there may be others.

    Add to that:
    25a, 25b, 25x, 51d, 51x, 66x, and 67x from St John's Road to Kildare Street
145 from outside Heuston front door

Note - you can get a Rail/Bus ticket to cover the 145 bus as far as St Stephen's Green (first stop on Lower Leeson Street to be precise).
