You'd get a better response in classic car section here on boards.

I like 'em, but I'm biased! Take a look at this page on the owner's club site. It will give you a great idea of what to expect and what to avoid.

I used to like them until I drove one and discovered that the steering wheel is located so low that my hands hit off my legs as I turned the steering wheel around ! (I'm average height and build btw)

My car is on their gallery page! (Pic no 66.) That is a fantastic site though.

I've had one for 4 1/2 years, and there's a bunch of folks here too who drive them. I would consider them an excellent choice for someone wanting to dip into the classic scene. I'm not just saying that because I have one. Like you, OP, I've always had a grá for the 924. I had other classics before them which might have been more interesting and more fun, but I've kept this twice as long as it's so goddamn practical and reliable.

There's been plenty of talk here before about 924s - here's a good thread to have a read through.

Do you have kids? Because you can fit them in if you need to! If I didn't have kids, I'd probably be driving something older with chrome, but my 924 will sit for as long as I leave it and start first time every time. It absolutely suits the occasional driver who doesn't have the luxury of a garage.

Regarding what to look for? Rust isn't a big deal as most of them were galvanised, but there may be issues underneath still. Electrics can be a pain to fix, so try and find one that doesn't have issues. Post 1980 cars will need an NCT so personally I would not buy an Irish car that doesn't have one (or a UK car without an MOT - for whatever that's worth).

Tell us a bit more about your circumstances - budget, garage, expertise level etc. :)

Mine got a decent polish and scrub last Saturday for the first time since last Summer - any excuse for a pic!

Here's a tidy looking Irish car:

Unless that recent respray is hiding something, or there's something else dodgy going on it seems well priced. No mention of NCT - I'd be asking if not then why not - and not accepting any "haven't had time" or "not bothered" answers.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

How's your current Porsche ownership, CFD?

Up to recently I drove a 924 daily.

There a great car very well built and reliable always put a smile in my face, mega handling and plenty if power.

    Only down sides I see
Around town they can be a bit heavy on juice and there very low. If you park at a kerb you have climb up to get out.

Sold the 911s, still have the 912, still have the 928 & just purchased another rear engined monster..

    A T25 Devon.
I'm eating rust for breakfast, hopefully it will all be gone soon.
