Planning on doing this to the corolla i think. I was going to buy some rattle cans and a new rotary etc and try repair the paint to an ok standard (i'd be handy enough at that)... but then plasti dip crossed my mind, i've been browsing cleancars website but i'm not much the wiser.

what prepwork would the car require? can you just degrease the car and apply it or does the existing paint have to be keyed?

how does it wear long term, like say on a commuter car doing a good bit of driving would it peel?

is it a dirt magnet? is it easy to clean?

does it come in gloss colours or are they all matte? i see you can buy "glossifier" coatings but i'd rather not go that route for financial reasons.

how many aerosols to do a full car? i'd be thinking 5 or 6 maybe?

is it generally a **** idea. i've always maintained matte cars just look ****ed, but it seems like a good cheap alternative to get it presentable. the car is a €400 96 corolla saloon, so i won't be ruining a good car, but i wouldn't want to look stupid driving it either.

Type in Dip your car into Youtube

It shows everything on Prep and actual spraying

I personally wouldn't do it. I think it makes the car look a lot worse. Even the original paint with imperfections looks far better Imo.

    decided against it.

the original paint has a lot of issues. like squares of completely different colour from foolish touch ups, lacquer damage, scuffs etc.

anyway, bought a new machine, ordered a few cans of 8k8 blue and i have isopon in the garage. going to attack it early next week i hope!
