It's most likely the 2012 version at that price.

Source? It's most likely the 2012 version, it's worth paying the few bob more for the 2013 version - €229 from the Play Store:

It's miles better, the full 1080p screen especially. Comparison below:

tbh, it really depends what you want to use the tablet for, it might be worth your while just paying the 169 euro for the 2012 version, if all you are using it for is reading books, watching movies, playing games and surfing the net etc. if that is the case the 2012 would serve your needs perfectly.

Hopefully they'll announce a 2014 version soon (at Google IO perhaps) and the price of the 2013 will drop further.

Theres rumours of a new nexus 8 at the google IO next month, but theres also rumours of them discontinuing the nexus line as well.

Birthday in a couple of weeks so i think ill plump for the Nexus 7 from the Play store

I cant seem to justify the extra on the 10

I heard re-naming it rather than discontinuing.

an 8 inch screen would be perfect. I have a 10 inch HP touchpad, which is perfect for an additional screen to watch TV with while working on my laptop. Little heavy though, but it is 2 years old. N8 might be perfect. Especially if the price is right.

I Bought the Nexus 7 with 32gb for €210 from Groupon It arrived last Friday. Came across a message somewhere that I could upgrade it so I did. I also saw a lot of complaints later that the upgrade would not let me use Whats App. I use this with my son in England. Now in Notifications I see that it says System update downloaded. Touch to install. Can I remove it?? Afraid I will touch it in error

Just swipe the notification off the screen to get rid of it or press the icon that looks like 3 lines on top of each other (near where it says the time) to dismiss all notifications.

When i swipe the screen I have two notifications 1. Open advanced Task killer with a little green face to the left and 2. System update downloaded (touch to install) and box with downward arrow to the left. These two symbols come up at the top of every screen. Can't swipe notifications off the
screen. and there is no icon of 3 lines just wi fi sign, a black triangle and battery sign. My daughter bought one a week before me and she has the 3 lines

Alternatively you could just perform the update and I'll personally help you install WhatsApp again if you like as I have it on my tablet myself :)

    Alright, not to worry.

Why exactly don't you want to install the update?

It added some new features and you can still use WhatsApp

Because I read somewhere that by updating Whats app could no longer be used (loads of irate people) and that they had been on to Google to fix it. I think it was on boards I read it. If you think I can get it again then maybe I should install it. Bought a 4.2 according to adv. but now checking on the Nexus it is 4.3.

All those things you've listed would be much better suited on the 2013 version. The 1080p screen would provide clearer text and sharper video.

Install the update and then I'll help you install WhatsApp back onto it.

    Quite easy to do.

There is no reason not to install the update, when Google release an Android update it takes a short while for app developers to update apps to suit this update but this latest update your getting was released by Google months ago

YouTube will work grand on KitKat.

Don't think I have KitKat. It was Jelly Bean I bought. anyway on googling I find that I have to have app APK for nexus 7 . My nexus 7 does not support it unless I install 3rd party app in security and enable unknown sources. I am not too sure about this. Also I find that I can only have it on the Tablet or on My Phone .The site I got this information from www.topnexus7tips.com So I think I will let it go for the present and just use the phone. Also I would have to manually update all apps. without any reminder.

All apps work fine on KitKat. If not go onto the play store and update them.

OP, if you haven't yet bought a Nexus, Argos have the 32GB 2013 version for €160, reduced by 90.
