    Hey all,

    I've a telephone interview tomorrow morning with a crowd for an Applicaiton Support position:
    Application Support

    Working for an Industry leading software company providing cutting edge recruitment software the successful candidate will be an experienced and highly motivated individual capable of working both independently and within a larger team.

    Candidates will provide 1st and 2nd line application support for X’s clients and customers via telephone and email. Note this is not a call centre role. It is important that candidates understand what the application is doing, and there will be some coding skills required.

    This position has a view for promotion into an installations role. This position will include some:
    2nd line support;
    Adding configuration files and making the software accessible for the development team;
    Some more coding will be required.

    Candidates would be exposed to all parts of the development cycle from initial specification through implementation and into testing and final delivery. They will be responsible for resolving issues with current client software as well as testing our core products.

    Candidates should ideally possess experience with or a strong knowledge of:
    Linux
    MySQL
    Apache
    Perl/ Java/ PHP

    Desirable Skills:
    Javascript
    CSS3
    HTML5

    I was wondering what type of questions might they ask if the recruiter said this:
    Great. It will be a couple of technical questions around Web Application development.

    They are looking to get an idea of your understanding of a web application, rather than your knowledge of a particular language. It will be a shared screen session, so make sure you are by a computer with internet access.

    I'm guessing, but probably using SSH to open .htaccess, look at the httpd.conf file, check remaining disk space, check which version of PHP, open MySQL and run a few queries, edit something in the CSS file, make a minor HTML or PHP change...

    Normal LAMP day to day stuff if you do everything via SSH.
