On my morning commute into Galway today I caught up with a guy with a loaded down touring bike. It being a nice morning I slowed down to chat and asked him where he was headed expecting to hear Kerry/Cork ...

Anyway, he says Australia!!! So on the off chance that he is a boardsie (unlikely as he said he started in England) I want to wish him good luck with that epic adventure. :)

Has anyone told him that the's going the wrong way to Australia? The Atlantic is a bit on the wet side for cycling.

TLDR: I think the touring cyclist was having you on, OP.

    Why would you think that?

It's just a bit odd for a cyclist to go 500km in the wrong direction.

Maybe he was cycling to Shannon to catch a flight to the US, going to Australia the other way...
