    Hi,
I just lost my only pair of keys from my car...anyone knows any garages or services who actually could make a set from body number?
Its an old car BMW year 95 and from BMW centre the keys probably would cost more or less same as the car so wondering if anyone knows where can I make them cheaper.

Just bring your VIN, ID, vehicle licence cert to your BMW dealer ship and they will get a new key cut based on what's in the database for your car. It normally takes about 2 days. I assume you have an E36, the last time i got one of them cut it was €50, would be slightly dearer now, but still not mad money if your stuck.

you could try the likes of Autokey.ie, but they wouldn't have access to the BMW database so won't be able to cut the key based on your VIN.

Thanks guys for your comments.at the end went for autokeys.ie and the nightmare it was...if you can't or don't want to do it why take the job in the first place? It took them 3 days to make them, costed 300e had to tow the car to them and they made 3 different keys for the locks...i know it's an old car but it looked like they were taking a piss at the end.

Did you ring up the dealer and ask them how much for a key??? It wouldn't of been any where near €300.

Autokey probably used some tools to try reverse engineer the key and then had to do stuff to by-pass/re-code the immobiliser if fitted on that model.

The BMW dealer would of been much quicker and a fraction of the price and no towing etc....

I got a master key for my BMW from the main dealer. Bring logbook and id. A day later and an exchange of €25 sees me with my new key. No need to even see the car

That was in 2007 for an E34 from a dealer that since no longer does BMW btw

Don't know if they keep records of cars after 15 years of last model (I was told this however it may all be crap) but something to consider
