Damp problem

    Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a contractor to carry out a treatment / resolve a rising damp problem. I've carried out a lot of research, including trawling through numerous posts here, and contacted a number of companies based on online searches.

Based on the diagnosis that i've received (piecing together feedback from a few people that have been on-site) it appears that the damp proof membrane may have been damaged, during the construction process, in one or more locations. This is causing damp spots, flaking plaster and bubbling of paintwork in 3 separate locations. This occurs just above the skirting boards for approx. 18 inches or so up the wall.

Based upon my research i'm a little concerned that a lot of these companies are simply pushing a solution that fits with the product/service they sell i.e. tailoring the issue to suit their service.

I'd love to receive any recommendations from people who have successfully engaged a contractor to resolve a rising damp issue and been happy with the outcome. The house is approx 8 years old and i'm based in Laois.

<snip> and feel free to PM me with any names to steer clear from.

    Thanks
