The Season Ticket Thread

Your thoughts, your views on season tickets.

What do you pay? Is it worth it?

I haven't bought a Leinster season ticket for 2 years due to personal circumstances. I can't be sure I'll always be free on enough Saturdays to justify the outlay. When most games were on a Friday in Donnybrook I could make plans!

I can get a ticket from a friend for cost price 99% of the time when I can go to the RDS.

Next season it's €299 for 11 games in South/North terrace. Is that good value?

Probably. But I know that going to a game usually costs me another €60/80 per game for me...I can't be sure I'll have that in advance.

I live in Dublin City Centre so I applaud and am in awe of the fans who travel, often crazy distances, to games.

So what can the provinces do to make season tickets more appealing?

I'm very interested in hearing you opinions.

    RB

Since I started working in an office I've had a season ticket. Since 09 basically. I defo think it's worth it. I remember one particular moment when Thorn first played for Leinster. We were waiting for kick off, and the sth beside me said "We really are privileged, to come down to a little patch if green every other week, and see some of the worlds best rugby players play."

He was dead right. Also we we're at our peak at the time so it really was very true.

Why 11 games, the season ticket gets you 14 games (rabo and European group)

That said its great value, but I can't commit to it, I have wwork and study and I don't know how many Friday night/Saturday lectures I will have making me unable to make matches.

Will buy one when the hell of lectures and work at the same time ends.

    Yeah, + 3 HC, you're right.

Saturdays are a killer for me after 5pm so that has really affected my attendance in recent seasons.

Through a relation I used to be able to pick up tickets handy enough sometimes for free but I knew at some stage that source would dry up so joined MRSC a good few years back.
To me membership isn't just getting a match ticket, in Munster anyway, the MRSC makes a sizable financial contribution to MR.

I get two combined (TP & MP) terrace season tickets, my daughter gets TP only. The combined ST with membership averages out at €23 per game, I'm happy with that.

    That's a great point.

PS I was the one who wanted to start a fundit.ie campaign to top up Sexton's wage:)

300/14= 21.42 so that's good value if you're going to make it to most of the games.

If you're not though then you have to question it.

I can't commit to a STH as I won't make most of the games so no point in buying one.

I was still able to get tickets to the Castres and Ospreys HEC games through Ticketmaster and have never had any problems buying a ticket for any of the Rabo games either so I'm happy out.

Whether I'll be able to get a ticket to the Rabo SF or Final, if we make it, is another thing. Again though I was able to get tickets for last years Amlin SF and the year befores Rabo final on Ticketmaster so you never know.

I've had a Leinster season ticket for five years not, and consider it great value. I get to most of the matches, so I am lucky, but I have given my ticket to friends when I haven't been able to use it myself. North stand for me. Great for us as there are nine of us and we can all sit together, even when we have extras along.

Next seasons terrace ticket is €274 in the RDS. That's under €20 a game. For someone like me who makes all the home games that's completely worth it. Even if it has gone up on the last few years. I love the RDS and the vibe about the place prior to kick-off. That I work in UCD helps for the Friday games and we've never had trouble with parking on the Saturday (we park in the church behind the RDS so it's dead handy).

Out of interest though OP why does going to games from the city centre cost an extra €60-€80?

A couple of pints in Cullens or Mac's before the game.

2 pints in the RDS and a burger/chips.

2/3 pints in the Horse Show after.

    Taxi back into town

    maybe a late chipper.

    It all adds up:D

    PS I smoke too!

Connacht season ticket holder for quite a while, still a student so I get a good concession. IIRC its around 130 euro if i renew before the end of this week. Great deal

So seven pints is part of the 'cost' of going to the game?

Sure why don't you put in a few lap dances while you're at it?

    €130 is great.:)

Does that include any European group games too or pay extra?

    Nice!:)

    That's a pretty impressive proposition.

You'd be mad not to buy a season ticket if you live in Galway.

    (and are a student);)

Ospreys charge £90 or £95 cant remember which for their season ticket.

Unfortunately in located in laois so i couldn't commit to a season ticket. If i was based in the capital id give it serious consideration.

Jesus, for that money it's amazing there isn't more support for the clubs.

€270 for 14 games, even if I miss the occasional one, it's no big deal. I can sell it on the exchange, or give it to a mate (I don't think I've ever tried to sell it now I come to think of it). The only downside is the game in the Aviva, since it's allocated, and my mates don't have season tickets to link together.

Beats giving Ticketmaster an extra 3 quid every time I want to go to a game.

I'd have gone for it this year, if I could get a block of 4 in blocks C or D of the Anglesea, but nothing more than single seats are available there atm.
I've been in the terrace a fair few times and can't hack it. I'm a tall guy, but the view is still utter ****.

Live in Kildare and would buy a season ticket in a heartbeat, but due to family & work commitments I only make a handful of games per year.

I'd love if there was some sort of supporters pack that included live streaming of all games, (regardless of tournament), on the supporter website. But that is a pipe dream.

I pay $200 which is €138 for 8 games to watch the Reds in Super Rugby which includes free public transport on match days.

Thats less than €18 per game which is terrific value.

    They average over 20,000 crowd.

Have been a Connacht STH for a few years now, will be renewing this week - €190 for early renewals, all home games and a free pint at the Euro games, works out at €13.60 a game or so. I get to most games so it's a no-brainer - if you bought tickets to 3 Euro games and 3 interpro games you'd have that money spent, so basically its 14 games for the price of the 6 big ones

Main stand terrace. Love to be in the Clan terrace, but I often bring mates to games who aren't STH's, and it would be impossible to get tickets for the Clan for them, especially for big games...

€13.60 for side of the pitch is fantastic value.

    Ulster ST student here

    £198.00 this year. east terrace

11 home games, at least 1 friendly and 3 H cup games and priority booking etc.

If a game costs 25.00 now, based on per game tickets... basically you get 6/7 "free" games.

Roughly 13.20 a game? Sounds like a good deal to me. I think people are daft not to buy a ST. You can pass it to a friend if you cant make it... or "sell" it on games you cant go and make money back etc

First time in 13 years that I'll be in the country and not have a season ticket come August. Feels weird but we just can't bank on getting the baby sitters to make it worth while and he's too young to bring to games.

They are great value if you can get to all of the games, but with the Aviva games it's not vital to have one any more otherwise as the Ulster game is the only game you may not get tickets for otherwise
