Powertap servicing

I need a bit of advice, I was having issues with my powertap wheel not picking up any reading so I sent it over to pailigap in the uk. It is out of warranty as I have it two and a half years . They came back with a quote of 340 sterling and that does not include the return postage. Has anyone ever got a wheel fixed and if so was it worth it? Would a garmin vector be a better option are they more reliable? if so I was thinking of saving the money that I would use to get the wheel fixed to get the vectors in Auz.

Most that I have seen break, especially if they are the SL+ have tended to break again relatively quickly. We had a spate of them going in the club, about 5 in one month. I had good luck with an older Pro+ model but the newer ones are crap. And Paligap are beyond crap.

I gave up on Powertap in the end and changed to Power2max.

I've just returned an unused 2.4+ To Paligap, diagnosis torque tube fail = £340. They will however upgrade it to G3, 11 speed freehub and warranty it for two years. That's my justification, a good friend has had three powertaps and never any problems.

Thanks for the replies , I ended up paying the €420 to get the g3 upgrade, pure madness but hopefully this lasts a bit longer. I have still the option of selling it on for 500 , the garmin vectors would be nice but are they durable?
