What's peoples general experiance in regards vodafone home broadband?

I'm still in the area of old style broadband (pre ngb). Currently on eircom 7mbit plan but max speed I can reach is about 6mbit.

Anyway, I've been with eircom for years, and I was rather always happy with them, but due to horrendous prices ill need to switch.

Afair I can get 12 month contract with eircom for 50 a month for 6 mths, and 60 a month for next 6 months averaging 55.

Average on sky comes as 40 and 35 on vodafone.
All for the same kind of service.

Obviously then I decided to switch to vodafone, but right from the beginning it doesn't seem to be easy.

Their website says to switch I need to ring 1800 number line open 9a to 9p mon to fri and 9 to 5 sat.

So I rang last evening at 8:02p and after going through all their menus machine told me that lines are open until 8.
Then I rang again today, and I was told bu machine to hold for next available agent. After waiting and listening to their music for over 40 mintes I gave up.

I'd still like to switch, but I'm affraid that ifI meet that kind of customer service at very beginning, then having their service at home and trying to solve and possible trouble might be actually a not worth the hassle nightmare

So I wanted to hear peoples opinions on their experience with vodafone broadband and their customer service.

Expensive but good. I have business package tho, they would not offer high speed to normal customers in my area. Getting 12Mbit now, and there doesn't seem to be any contention.

Had problems with their mobile offering tho, ended up getting comreg involved etc. Got 18 months free :p

I am with vodafone for a good few years now and cant complain about the product at all.Currently on a 50/20 fibre package for 35 euros which is very stable and solid.
However on the couple of occasions that i was forced to ring them, all technical issues by the way,i would say their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Numerous times i was told i would get callbacks and this never happened once and their call staff and tech support are not very knowledgeable.

So in conclusion, when it works its excellent but heaven help anyone thats forced to ring them.

Excellent service until recently. My line is having issues whereby I could get fibre a month ago but now apparently I don't even have an active line according to the checker (even though I have voice and adsl!) So I have rang 4 times and each time I am promised it will be fixed and a call back in 2 days. I have since given up........

My brother had desperate trouble getting Vodafone to upgrade him from ADSL2+ to VDSL. Three separate orders and nearly a year later he finally got it.

The first time, the order never went through. The second time, the order went through but Vodafone passed on my parents' address to Eircom, despite my brother changing it previously. The Eircom engineer cancelled the install, stating that VDSL wasn't available in the area (which is isn't, my parents can't get any sort of DSL). Finally, on the third occasion, when he ordered them to update the address, he was told that it couldn't be done, but he eventually found someone on the other end who did it for him. After that the installation was done.

I know if it were me, I wouldn't have been so patient with them. I probably would have ported back to Eircom and just got them to do it.

Absolutely fine. They provide broadband and it works. They don't cuddle me in into bed at night.

    All good now.
I finally reached them yesterday. This time I only waited on helpline with music playing for 30 minutes so not too bad. Once I reached consultant he was all good, knowledgable and helpful, so process of switching is initiated.

This is going to save me €240 a year comparing to eircom, so I it looks like it's well worth it.
