Hi all , not sure if this is the right place to post this,,,

I think i have a hernia bulge that requires some surgery - what happens after visiting the GP for this if i do need surgery? Does the GP make the appointment with the hospital, how long does the whole process take/cost? Just wondering as i have no idea, thanks for your help!

Depends if you're public or private. If private you'll be put up in a private room, with duck feather pillows and soft music in the background. A large breasted Swedish nurse will felate you, whilst a highly trained surgeon operates. You'll be fed fillet steaks until your well enough to go home.

If your public you'll die in agony on the waiting room floor after an excruciating operation with no anaesthetic and be forced to appear on an episode of embarrassing bodies.

Your GP would probably refer you on to have some tests done under a consultant such as gastroscopy, camera into the stomach. Surgery would depend on the results of that. If you have health insurance, the whole process wouldn't take long. Procedures and inpatient stay would generally be covered maybe with an excess on your plan, but you'd be paying the consultant for consultations upfront.

Its fine OP, you wont need a camera up the arse. I had a double hernia operated on last year, once they see the bulge, they have a feel around and schedule an op. Best of luck.

Your GP will refer you by letter for a hospital appointment. You will then be examined by a consultant to determine if surgery is necessary. The length of time you will have to wait for surgery will depend on the diagnosis and whether you are a public or private patient.

If you're public? It doesn't hurt or anything just wondering!

Not really. They just use rusty scalpels and no anaesthetic.

OP, why not just pay the 50 euro, get seen by a GP who will answer all your questions, you never know your diagnosis might be completely different from what you have self-diagnosed.
