Never used it before, but going to use it this year, on the recommendation of my vet. €2.50/calf. Vet swears by it, so I agreed to try it on the condition that he pays for any treatments between now and Oct if it doesn't work.! Deal done.

Anyone try this last year? If so, how did you get on with it. Might try it this year myself.

I'm not sure we were keeping to the programme as tightly as we should have but I wouldn't rate it at all. Much better results from albendazoles and levamisoles.

Edit to say I wish it had worked as anything to reduce workload is more than welcome. We've tried various different strategies and products over the years, repidoses (boluses), a number of different "ectins" but we've always come back to oral doses and monitoring stock closely. It does no harm to get calves used to roadways and moving through the yard regularly either.

+1 used it 2 years ago in early May on all calves ,calves coughing late August. Took dungs and worms present despite them been regurally allocated the freshest and best grass I had .i prefer running calves up crush every 4/6 weeks to get a good luck at them and pull out weaker ones for feeding if needed .i alternated zearl and albencare last year

Cydectin LA can be a useful injection however there are limitations to it.
Weigh the calves before you use it and use a small syringe as under dosing will be a problem.
I'm not convinced in suckers. We had a bad breakdown in lungworm in a herd last year.

    From Datasheet at hpra.ie

"Due to the long lasting protection against Dictyocaulus viviparus and the stomach worms, Ostertagia ostertagi and Haemonchus placei, a single treatment with the formulation at turn-out helps control parasitic bronchitis (lungworm) and parasitic gastro-enteritis throughout the grazing season by reducing the build-up of infective larvae on pasture associated with these parasites. For best results the injection should be given to each calf of target weight to be grazed together immediately prior to being turned out to pasture. Animals should be set stocked throughout the grazing season or moved to a pasture which has not been grazed by other cattle earlier in the season."
