    Hi All,
I had a memory module go belly up on me yesterday, it was set up as dual channel. It was a 1GB Corsair xms2 (DDR2 800 PC2 6400).
I'm going to get another 4GB pair ( I only can stretch to €70) and was wondering what to do with the remaining good 1GB module.
It's not a gaming machine, most taxing would be a bit of photo/video editing or 3d CAD, so does the extra bandwidth make any difference to me?

As long as both work at 800mhz and also work at the same voltage eg 1.6 ect you should be fine

Just a follow up. Bought a 1gig stick in a bricks and mortar store to get me out of the immediate problem. Same clock and voltage but different latency. Worked fine and I added a 2x2gb gskill pair when the deliverycame. Bios detected all 6 but xp could only use 3 (knew this would be the case)
So clean installing winn 7 64bit hit loads of problems but one was memory related. After first reboot during install got Bsod. Instalation can't continue in safe mode but no bsod so figured itwas Ati driver related so I removed the graphics card re installed win 7 using onboard graohics .... and got a pure white screen with cursor . Most sites said it was a virus but this couldn't be. On a hunch pulled the 2 1gig sticks and voila. All working even when I re installed the graphics card.
So after long and rambling post.
Is there a bios setting I need to tweak? Or can you think of anything else I could try
