Stupid people being stupid

Just wanted to check if any of ye have come across a more stupid person than this guy:

On the bus, travelling home from work, some guy a few rows back gets bored and decides hes wants to do some Facebook stalking (web browsing :D) so he rings his mobile provider as to top up his account.
He spends the guts of 10mins broadcasting his personnel information across the bus. He literally gave the person on the other end of the phone and 90% of the people on the bus the following:
    Name
    Full address
    Telephone number
    Mobile number
    16-Digit credit card number
Expiry date of the card & CVS number of the card

I mean he might of well opened his wallet and given me some cash there and then. Like, all I'm missing is his mothers maiden name and his childhood pets name for gods sake.

He made no effort to even lower his voice or masquerade the conversation. I'm all for people having there stupid chit chat conversations on their commute home but this guy needs to learn when to shut up, or at least lower his voice.

I should of wrote down all his details and handed them to him as a lesson....people these days.

Nice to get that off my chest :pac:

You should be ashamed OP. "All that is necessary for the triumph of douchebaggery is that Boardsies do nothing."

You just sat there and did nothing.

Not one life lesson was learnt that day.

Not the smallest credit card fraud, Facebook assault. Nothing.

    Good day sir.

The back of the bus upstairs talking loudly with a swagger you say?
Why would he care if somebody steals the info from his stolen credit card?

Nobody appears to care and your thread is possibly destined to crawl off quietly and die. I suggest children, grammar, Catholics or civil servants as superior fish barrel targets upon which one can forge a reputation.

OP should have ordered him a gimp suit at the very least.

He can do what he likes with his info, I don't care. But see that shouting into a phone on public transport? Unless it was a genuine emergency and he had to conduct the call, I'd ram the phone up his hole.

That's the idea :). One is entitled to defend one's right to peace and quiet on the bus, one is.

A lot of people, particularly those who have grown up with mobile phones simply have a lack of understanding when it comes to public & private space, literally not grasping that they are not in their own private cocoon when talking on the phone or posting on social media. There was a very interesting case in Spain a few years ago. Google Translate (can't find an English version) doesn't do a great job but basically a 19 year old was on a bus & had a loud phone conversation to a friend in which he confessed to a murder, completely oblivious to the fact that all the other passengers could hear him. One of them happened to be a policeman & he was soon arrested.

I worked with a girl who said Jesus slept with Mary and married her.
I said "You mean Mary Magdalene"
Her "No Mary with all the statues".
I pointed out that was his mother and she said she knew.

In complete shock I said "Do you really mean that?"
Her "Yes it is my theory."
    Me "Based on what?"
    Her "My theory"
Me " Yes your theory but theory has to be based on something"
Her "If it is my theory it doesn't need any facts"
Me " Do you know what a theory is?"
    Her " Yes"
Me " Not if you think it doesn't need any facts"
Her "It is a fact I believe it"
Me " You claim to be a Roman Catholic?"
Her " I most certainly am"
Me " So you believe Jesus was into incest?"
Her " Well she didn't have sex with God, maculate contraception!"
    Me " 'Maculate contraception'?"
    Her "That's what I said"
Me " I know, do you no what those words mean?"
    Her " Of course"
Me "So a dirty or spotted form of birth control mean Jesus could have sex and marry his mother?"
Her "What are you talking about? Are you making fun of me?"
Me " Don't worry I don't think you picked up some of the details right and you mixed up some words by mishearing them"
Her " I know what I am talking about!"
Me " Maybe you should Google those words"
Her " How would I know how to spell them?"
    Me "Don't worry"
Her "You have me curious, tell me how to spell them"
Me " This has gone too far I don't want to embarrass you"
Her " Why would I be embarrassed I'm right?"
Me "Then nothing to look up, you know what they say about religion and politics?"
Her " No what do they say?"
Me "You know don't talk about them in a pub"
Her "Why? We aren't in a pub"
Me " Please can we leave it alone I want to get back to work"
Her " I am very confused"

I saw on her computer a few hours later what looked like attempts to spell "mackulatte" and I truly laughed out loud. She seemed normal enough until any kind of common knowledge was mentioned, she knew her fashion inside out so had some form of memory.

It often surprises me how stupid some people are , and yet that they can
get on grand in life overall.

Considering how complicated the world is getting its a bit baffling.

There are different types of intelligence, some of which are useful in some situations & others which are useful in different contexts. Someone might appear extremely ignorant about basic history/current affairs for instance but still be highly skilled in performing technical tasks for which they are employed.

I'm not. You don't see this type of thing on the tube in London. There is something to be said for being socially paranoid.

Its hard to believe now but when mobiles first started to become commercial in the early 90s talking on one on public transport was considered extremely poor etiquette.

It's still bad manners. I'm not interested in hearing other peoples boring conversations or about the minutiae of their lives. My own is boring enough, thanks.

Worse still are the extra loud ones, where they think they have fascinating things to say about their lives that will intrigue the casual eavesdropper.

I completely agree. But there doesnt seem to be a stigma about it the way there used to be.

We can only fight the good fight and work to change that.

Next time I'm subjected unwillingly to someones phone conversation, I fully intend to roll my eyes and say tsk. That'll learn 'em. :)

Likewise, I hate talking on the phone in public, whoever calls me must think I am so ignorant but thats just me, I feel awkward having other people listening to my conversations....its bad enough listening to other peoples crappy music on my commute, the last thing I need is to hear about someones life story.

A friend of mine thought it was epic the way the director made Nicholas Cage look like John Travolta in Face Off and vice versa and you could hardly notice unless you looked REALLY closely. Technology these days he said.......

I actually had somebody glare at me before on the luas as she was having a loud conversation on the phone while I was chatting and laughing with my friend and obviously affecting her concentration.

I used to work in a call centre and saw this every day, people would call out all their card details not a bother in public. What used to make me laugh was the people who accepted new plans from our outbound sales team, would accept all these t&cs, give out bank details and personal info, then ring back in asking if they were legit? whyyyy would you give out all that info first and THEN ring in to question it?
