I'd more time on my hands than I wished and ended up buying this.

Never used it before myself, but curious to hear from anyone who has.
~ recommend its' use at all?
~ better off just leaving on a shelf or returning?

Just have this damn fear of being serious miles from civilisation and not being able to fix/repair & Just trying to minimise likelihood of happening to be honest

I used to be prone to just taking off on these long spins to the back-ends of no-where cycling and exploring, but not so much lately for personal reasons.

Spare tube in saddle bag as well as a repair kit, no worries.

Practice taking your tyres on and off a few times in the comfort of your own home and the fear will go. Regardless of what puncture protection you have you might still get a flat. Last one I had was due to a faulty valve. Know how to change a tyre, fix a puncture and carry spare tubes and a kit and you'll be grand.

One comment I heard here recently is that the puncture resistant tyres are way more difficult to get on and off the rims, so in some ways aren't the best option. FWIW, I've been averaging about one puncture per year on a set of Durano plus tyres, but they are difficult enough to get on first time out. I carry way too much repair kit on long solo trips, and given its lack of use in recent years am considering cutting back to the essentials plus credit card in case of emergency taxi requirement.

I've been using these tyre liners for maybe 6 months now on my commuter and they work very well. They don't offer absolute protection; the only puncture I've had with them was when a piece of flint went straight through the liner. To be honest I don't think any protective product would have stopped it. Other than that they've been great. You still have to pick the glass out of your tyres every so often though.
